VMware acquired<br \/>\nCloudVolumes in August 2014 and released it with the name App Volumes in December 2014.<br \/>\nVMware App Volumes is a real-time application delivery system that we can use to dynamically deliver and manage applications. App Volumes builds a virtual machine disk file for applications and<br \/>\nconnects them to a user desktop or virtual machine. Administrators can use App Volumes to remove, to update, or to install applications for users in real time. App Volumes allows applications and data to follow end users across devices and sessions.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first step (the step that we will focus on for this blog) is to create an AppStack based on a template that we created earlier.<\/p>\n<p>We open the App Volume Manger webpage:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"347\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-6.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And click on Volumes, in this window you see all the current<br \/>\nconfigured AppStacks. To start creating a new one, in this window we click on <strong>Create<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"265\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-7.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the window <em>Create AppStack<\/em>&nbsp; we supply all the necessary<br \/>\ninformation to create a new AppStack. For this AppStack we select the 20GB template. When all the info are filled in we click on<br \/>\n<strong>Create.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"288\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-8.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once we click on <strong>Create <\/strong>in the previous window this pop up<br \/>\nappears, for this demo we selected <em>Wait to complete.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"141\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-9.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The AppStack is created, in this window we see all the information on the AppStack we\u2019ve just created.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"196\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-10.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the window above we are also informed about the next step,<br \/>\nprovisioning the AppStack.
