background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-11.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To remove a VMware Horizon license you should first disable provisioning of new VM\u2019s.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Click <strong>Horizon Administrator<\/strong> &gt; <b>View Configuration &gt; Servers<\/b>.<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Select <b>vCenter Server<\/b>.<\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Click <b>Disable provisioning<\/b> and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Next we create a backup of the Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) database.&nbsp; The tool vmdexport.exe can be found in, <br \/>C:\\Program Files\\VMware\\VMware View\\Server\\tools\\bin\\<\/p>\n<p>To backup the ADAM database execute the following command.<\/p>\n<p>vdmexport.exe &gt; vdmconfig.ldf<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"443\" height=\"317\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-12.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next we need to connect to the ADAM databse the remove the <br \/>license. <\/p>\n<p>On the VMware Horizon Connection Server open: Click <strong>Start<\/strong> &gt; <br \/><b>Administrative Tools<\/b> &gt; <b>ADSI Edit<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"384\" height=\"395\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-13.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select Select or type a Distinguished Name or Naming Context.\n<li>In the field below Select or type a Distinguished Name or Naming Context, type:<br \/>dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int\n<li>Select Select or type a domain or server.\n<li>In the field below Select or type a domain or server, type:<br \/>localhost:389\n<li>Click <b>OK<\/b>.\n<li>Click <b>View ADAM Database [localhost:389]<\/b> to expand.\n<li>Click <b>DC=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int<\/b> to expand.<\/li>\n<li>Expand OU=Properties, OU=Global then right click CN=License and choose <b>Properties<\/b>.\n<li>Scroll down to <b>pae-LicenseKey2<\/b>, choose Edit, and remove all entries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"321\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-14.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-15.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"312\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image_thumb-15.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wait at least 2 minutes for the ADAM database to replicate to other Connection Servers, then go verify that VMware Horizon is now unlicensed in the Horizon Administrator. <\/p>\n<p>When you check the licenses in the VMware Horizon Administrator, you see the following.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/robinplomp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"186\" title=\"image\" style=\"display: inline;
